OPENER aerospace completes a transportation vibration test on the Opener BlackFly, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle.

High-Performance Vibration and Transportation Testing for eVOL Aircraft

OPENER aerospace has completed a transportation vibration test on the Opener BlackFly eVTOL, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle.

The test was run on Experior Labs dual shaker vertical head expander vibration system and custom fixture to simulate road conditions during long travel transportation.

This test was crucial to understanding the effects normal transportation vibration has on key components within the aircraft. The vibration test was conducted on the aircraft as two test programs. The first test was set up for the dual wing design which included eight full-electric motors; a battery system; and flight controls. The second test was conducted on the fuselage, a single-person, Epoxy-impregnated carbon fiber structure with Joystick and fly-by-wire electrical controls.

OPENER is an aerospace company headquartered in Palo Alto, California, that is realizing the dream of a safe, easy-to-operate flying vehicle capable of efficiently transporting an individual from point A to B. Opener designed, developed, and manufactures BlackFly, the world’s first all-electric, fixed-wing, vertical take-off and landing aircraft for personal transportation.
