Terran Orbital System Undergoes Pyroshock and Vibration Testing to Qualify for SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch

High Performance Testing for Large and Heavy Test Articles

Experior Laboratories completed a Vibration and SRS Shock testing campaign for Terran Orbital Corporation in preparation for their satellites’ launch aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter-5 Mission.

Experior Laboratories was selected based on a combination of several factors, including critical program deadline commitment, meeting of SRS shock profile requirements and experience in testing large and heavy space flight hardware.

“The Terran Orbital CubeSat Delivery System underwent testing on our latest Resonant Beam Mechanical Impact test system for Shock and on one of our Unholtz Dickie R16s shakers for Vibration to simulate the launch and deployment environment in space the payload will be exposed to.” says Roger Rutz, VP of Sales and Marketing. “Our KIPS XL was specifically designed to meet our customers’ tough demands for simulated Pyroshock testing on large and heavy test article.”

After launching on aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the satellite transporter system will deploy several satellites for earth observation, global connectivity solutions and InfraRed Data Communications Systems. “Terran Orbital designs, builds, and integrates satellite solutions that help solve some of the world’s most complex problems,” said Terran Orbital Co-Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer Marc Bell. “CPOD, PTD-3, CENTAURI-5, and the CICERO-2 vehicles feature game-changing technologies that will greatly benefit the ways we measure and observe activity on Earth. Communicating this data in support of future mission capabilities will ultimately save and improve lives. We look forward to fostering our partnerships with NASA, GeoOptics, Fleet Space, MIT Lincoln Laboratories, and SpaceX as we continue to deliver groundbreaking and life-changing missions.”

“Terran Orbital thanks Experior Labs for supporting the test campaign for the Transporter-5 launch. We were able to successfully accomplish the test campaign within a tight timeframe due to Experior’s always accessible engineers, veteran industry knowledge, and state of the art equipment.”
