Fixture Design

Experior Laboratories’ Test Design and Engineering team uses a suite of FEA simulation tools for precision fixture design. Static stress and pressure analysis simulations help drive in-house design of custom setups and fixturing for static load, pressure, and vacuum testing. Static simulations are also used to validate fastener and torque selection.

Frequency and dynamic analysis simulation software are used for the design of vibration fixtures. These simulations can identify fixture resonances, locate key areas for design improvement, and even predict the vibration response of chosen FEA mesh nodes to a given vibration input. These insights can improve the accelerometer placement and predict over-test conditions before they happen.

Experior Lab’s agile fixture design can rapidly incorporate customer parts into our suite of standard vibration cubes and plates which have been designed and analyzed to work in a wide range of test cases and test articles. Blank pre-cut cube plates are available to be rapidly customized in our onsite machining facility to fit the footprint of new test articles.

Design for Logistics

By utilizing a CAD model of Experior Laboratories’ high-bay vibration facility, which includes models of the shakers, crane, and support equipment, we can generate 3D visualizations of extra-large and dual-shaker test configurations.

These customizable models offer essential information regarding rigging and logistics, including the receiving and unloading of oversized test articles. The adaptable shaker models enable efficient planning of dual-shaker tests and facilitate the verification of fixture compatibility and clearance with the shakers according to their intended use.

Fabrication

The team at Experior Laboratories has experience designing and developing custom test setups and functional test stands for an extensive range of product and test types. Examples include: test panels for actuation and pressure, electrical contact bounce and short circuit testers, cable tension and abrasion testers, drop and impact testers, customized thermal chambers and numerous others.

Experior Labs offers in-house engineering design of Piping & Instrumentation or Process diagrams, along with a fabrication team that is proficient in tubing and fittings, facilitating efficient creation and iteration of test stands for pressurized component testing. Our fabrication department has vast experience in sourcing and assembling an array of fittings, including NPT, flared tube (AN/JIC), flareless tube (swaged or ferrule type), cone-and-thread, and many more. Our designed setups prioritize safety components like hose whips, burst discs, and relief valves, where applicable.
