The Astroforge ODIN Spacecraft recently underwent a vibration test to ensure it can withstand the intense forces and mechanical stresses experienced during launch and ascent.

The vibration test campaign was completed at Experior Labs in preparation for launch on the SpaceX Falcon 9. The 265-pound (120 kilograms) Odin is designed to obtain imagery of asteroid 2022 OB5 for a follow-up mission, named Vestri, which will aim to land on the asteroid. The missions are part of AstroForge’s plans to make space resources available on Earth.

The tests where performed on Experior Labs UD T4000 Shaker with a vertical vibration system and Data Physics hi-performance slip table.

AstroForge,is an aerospace company based in Huntington Beach, California, specializing in asteroid mining. The company’s mission is to extract valuable minerals, particularly platinum-group metals (PGMs), from asteroids, offering a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional terrestrial mining methods.

“Thanks for all the support getting Odin to the launch pad.
We will be back for vibration testing of our next vehicle, Vestri!”
