GR-1081-CORE Testing

Generic Requirements for Field-Mountable Optical Fiber Connectors

The testing criteria listed GR-1081-CORE Generic Requirements for Field-Mountable Optical Fiber Connectors are used to test singlemode optical connectors that can be spliced in the field. This type of product can help an ISP field technician perform connections easier, faster, and with less error, for example.

The test samples are similar to the non field splice-able singlemode optical connectors; accordingly, the product must conform to testing in Section 4 of GR-326-CORE Generic Requirements for Single Mode Optical Connectors and Jumper Assemblies. Along with Wavelength Dependency, Yield, and Reliability tests, field mountable optical connectors must be subjected to an Assembly test that requires a walk-in environmental chamber and two technicians splicing connectors at different temperature.

Experior Labs has the capability to perform all tests in GR-1081. Along with an accredited quality management system, our facility has world-class equipment to properly test field-mountable optical connectors
